The information in Romanian Science Digest is based on news and announcements published on the websites of public research institutions in Romania. I follow about 150 sites and choose from the hundreds of news items published every week the ones I consider the closest to "Romanian researchers have discovered that..." The selected ones, generally 5-7 per week, are collected in a newsletter and sent to you.
You won't find: news from other countries that you can read on any Romanian website; information about gold medals at various student competitions or fairs; announcements about symposia or other strictly academic events; press releases about the end of research projects that don't mention the results obtained, administrative news about new buildings, dormitory prices, etc. I focus as much as I can on science and research.
We tested this newsletter for 6 months with a small group of people to see if news in the field really comes out, if it is interesting, if it comes out constantly or in waves. I have received encouragement, so I am making it available to anyone interested in Romanian science.
Unfortunately, the reality is that most of the research results in Romania remain invisible, not because of ill will, but because of a lack of communication. There is room for more and I hope that together we will be able to do more in the future.
