Famelab - the three-minute science competition

Famelab is the perfect exercise for testing your ability to speak publicly about science. It's a long-running competition, organised by the British Council, in which a person over 19 has three minutes to explain a scientific concept of their choice. Almost anything can be used - fancy clothes, props, stage play or simply your own enjoyment of storytelling. At both the regional and national stages, the storytelling is in Romanian.

In Iasi, there will be a pre-selection on 5 April. Details here.

There are many benefits for participants: those who qualify for the "national" participate in intensive science communication training with an expert from abroad. Moreover, for the finalists who qualify from Iasi, "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University provides one-on-one coaching (with me 🙂 ) to improve their presentation.

Even those who present at the first stage, the regional stage, have the opportunity to go through a less usual presentation experience, to step out of their comfort zone and receive timely and constructive feedback.

Details on how to apply here.

Here is the 2018 finals in Romania.
