Online dialogue: How and why we promote research

Where do research and public curiosity meet? Who is the science audience in Romania? What are the reasons, but also the reluctance of researchers to talk about their results outside the circle of specialists?

On 2 Decemberat 18:00, Researchers' Night invites you to an online discussion with Tudor Oprea, a medical researcher at the University of New Mexico (USA) and Andrada Fiscutean, freelance journalist, with articles published in Nature, Wired, Motherboard, etc.

The discussion will also cover topics such as: the voice of science during the pandemic / What outreach means and why it is becoming an important part of research projects / What scientists can do if they want to take a step towards the public. Tudor Oprea is Professor of Medicine, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry and Biochemistry and Head of Translational Informatics at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque (USA) and Visiting Professor at the Universities of Gothenburg (Sweden) and Copenhagen (Denmark). He received his PhD from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timișoara. With more than 250 publications as author or co-author, 9 patents and two books in the field of drug discovery, Tudor Oprea is currently investigating the use of artificial intelligence in drug discovery.

Andrada Fiscutean is a science and technology journalist with articles published in Nature, Ars Technica, Wired, Motherboard and ZDNet. Last academic year, he was a Knight Science Journalism Fellow at MIT. Andrada is on the board of the International Federation of Science Journalists. In her spare time, she collects Eastern European computers made in the 1980s and 1990s.
