The Show of Knowledge with Professor Brian Cox in Bucharest

One of the most active personalities in popularizing science on a global scale, Professor of
University of Manchester particle physicist and BBC icon Brian Cox
puts Romania on the map on its latest tour with a unique event on 3
April 2024 at Sala Palatului: Horizons - A 21st Century Space Odyssey.

The antithesis of pedantic lectures, the Horizons tour is, in the voice of Professor
Brian Cox and with the help of high-definition video projections, a unique journey through the history of
Universe and the laws of physics, among distant galaxies, black holes and alien worlds. In an
manner accessible to the general public without resorting to sophisticated concepts, Brian Cox attempts to
answer questions at the confluence of science and philosophy: what is the nature of space and
time, how life appeared on Earth and what it means on a cosmic scale, how
we can relate to the infinity of the Universe from the perspective of a life with inevitable milestones.

Horizons - A 21st Century Space Odyssey is both a celebration of culture and
universal civilisation, music, art, philosophy and science, but also an optimistic look to the future.
Brian Cox enjoys wide international recognition for his infectious passion for
which has succeeded for decades in explaining scientific ideas and phenomena in a way that is understandable to everyone, be they
laymen or enthusiasts. He does it both from the School of Physics and Astronomy's
University of Manchester and through the many science programmes broadcast by the BBC,
starting with his appearances in the documentary series Horizon and continuing with the famous
whose presenter he was, including the Wonders series (Wonders of the Solar System, Wonders
of the Universe, Wonders of Life), Forces of Nature, The Planets, Brian Cox's Adventures in
Space and Time, Brian Cox: Seven Days on Mars. Since 2009, he has been working with comedian
Robert Ince, co-host of BBC Radio 4's The Infinite Monkey Cage.
In Romania, Brian Cox's shows can be seen on Digi World and BBC Earth.

His status as a former member of British rock and dance bands in the 1980s and early
90s recommends Brian Cox as a scholar not susceptible to the often scathing approach of the
common in academic circles. A prestigious researcher involved in the ATLAS experiment at
Large Hadron Collider at CERN, and with numerous awards over the years, Brian
is at the same time a man of the world, versatile in his interests and playful in his disposition: he has appearances in
comic register in documentaries with and about Monty Python, deconstructs the scientific background
of Doctor Who or borrows the voice of a character from a British show
for children. When he's not working as a science advisor on science fiction films, Brian Cox participates in
shows moderated by Conan O'Brien or Graham Norton, he's a guest on The Joe Rogan
Experience and elegantly discusses "Oppenheimer" with Christopher Nolan.

The books written by Brian Cox with Jeff Forshaw ('Black Holes', 'Universal: A Guide to the
Cosmos', 'Quantum Universe', 'Why Does E=mc2?') but also those intended to accompany
TV shows and radio programmes designed for the BBC have sold over one million
copies worldwide.

With such a track record, it's no coincidence that Brian Cox's tours are so popular with the
recurring in the Book of Records. The 230,873 tickets sold for the previous tournament,
"Universal - Adventures in Space and Time", have secured the British professor for the third
a place in the Guinness World Record for the sales performance of a tour dedicated
science.

The organisation of an edutainment event of this scale for the first time is a
bet on the curiosity and appetite for knowledge of the English-speaking public in
Romania. Horizons - A 21st Century Space Odyssey is also a plea for
reason, science and humanism.

The event is scheduled for 20:30 and public access will begin at 19:30.
The show will be performed exclusively in English.

Use of mobile phones, cameras/video cameras or any other type of device
usable for audio-video recording will not be allowed in the auditorium.
The show in Romania is part of a series of 8 events co-organised by Livehouse
and Phil McIntyre Live in Eastern Europe and Turkey, and the tour so far includes dates in Sofia,
Belgrade, Zagreb, Prague, Warsaw, Poznan and Istanbul.
